On the day of one of the biggest red carpet events of the year, Demi Moore tweeted that she wouldn’t be attending the Golden Globes with her husband because she was “having a bad hair day”. Good to know that even celebrities like Demi who are envied for their gorgeous manes can have an off day! But unlike Demi, don’t let a case of bad hair day blues keep you at home under the covers.

Beating the Bad Hair Day Blues:
For Straight Hair
Amy says, “When someone with straight hair says they’re having a bad hair day, they’re usually complaining about the lack of volume or oily and piece-y bangs.”
« To add volume to any style, Amy suggests spraying a dry shampoo, like Rene Furterer Naturia Dry Shampoo $24.00 by Rene Furterer at Skin Store over the hair focusing on the roots. Leave on for one minute then massage at roots and brush through. This will remove the “slip” off of straight hair and add more body to the style.

« To make bangs look freshly washed, spritz with a dry shampoo like Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk $18.00 by Klorane at Skin Store (which is great for anyone with a sensitive scalp). Then using a hair dryer and brush, brush the bangs over to one side and then the other. This will help them lay flat.

Jet says another common culprit for straight hair is static, especially during the winter when dry air dehydrates strands.
« To instantly get rid of static, Jet says to head to the laundry room and grab a dryer sheet. Gently rub the sheet all over and your hair will be tamed!
« And of course, if all else fails, resort to the classic pony. Rub a flexible hold hairspray like Rene Furterer Finishing Spray $27.00 by Rene Furterer at Skin Store in your palms and then pull back the hair. The flexible hold of the hairspray will control the static while allowing you to shape the pony without the stiffness.

For Curly Hair
Frizz always tops the list for the most common curly hair complaint.
« To quickly get rid of frizz, Amy suggests running hands under a faucet and then finger combing through the curls. This will tame the frizz and also help the shape of the curls bounce back.
« Jet offers another option for out of control curls. Using a flat iron at the lowest setting, gently smooth over curls. Finish withPapyrus Milk Leave-in Fluid by Klorane $16.80 by Klorane at Smallflower, which protects from the humidity and won’t weigh down the curls.
