By Miss Style Apothecary · February 27, 2010 · 0 Comments · 737 Views

The World’s First Railroad Perfume. The scent of wildflowers, green grasses … and urban renewal. The scent starts off with a prairie grazing weed- purple love grass- mixed with citrusy bergamot and zesty Indian rhubarb. The perfume’s floral heart is red-leaf rose, Lady Jane tulips, and grape hyacinth. Its lingering base notes combine bur oak- from the sheltering tree that thrives here- with imported sea moss, to evoke the Hudson’s River proximity, along with musk and teakwood, to remind us that Bond No. 9 High Line is a metro- perfume. Notes: Bergamot, Purple Love Grass, Indian Rhubarb, Red Leaf Rose, Tulips, Grape Hyacinth and Bur Oak

avail from Bond No. 9 for $145 - $220.00

Curel ~ Launches Skin Advisor w/ Dr. Westley

By Miss Style Apothecary · February 26, 2010 · 0 Comments · 37 Views

Curél has launched a new interactive, online tool, the Skin Advisor that offers skin analysis and provides advice on common skincare issues. Check out for yourself @ Curel Skin Advisor

Below you will find few quotes from Dr. Westley who partner with Curel to create this tool, along with a link to Dr. Westley unveiling the Skin Advisor. Please let me know if you will be able to post information about the Skin Advisor to your website. We could also offer a giveaway of Curel product.

  • “I partnered with Curel to create the Skin Advisor, an interactive tool on curel.com designed to help users identify and address skincare concerns like dryness, itching, allergies and eczema, to name a few.  10-20% of children have eczema, and many continue to suffer in adulthood.  One of the most common complaints I see in my office is dry skin, itchiness and skin prone to rashes.  People don’t know what regimen is right for their skin and many times parents are also confused what they should be using for their children’s skin.”

  • “I worked closely with Curel to develop a series of questions that recreate the experience of visiting the dermatologist’s office. When users answer the questions provided, the Skin Advisor generates a customized analysis of their skin concerns as well as lifestyle tips and Curel product recommendations to treat those concerns.  The advisor is very detailed, asking questions about skin type and very specific questions about symptoms people experience, just like I ask my own patients.  The analysis generated is also very detailed and gives very useful tips and recommendations for people to start treating their skin.  There is also a helpful allergen guide that people can navigate if they suspect they may be allergic to something they are coming into contact with.  It actually can help target a specific ingredient that they can look for on product labels.”

  • “Once consumers complete the Skin Advisor questionnaire, they can read more about the various skin issues covered at curel.com. If users still have additional questions, they can submit those questions online and I will answer them personally and provide additional insight.”

“While serious skin conditions require a dermatologist’s attention, the Curel Skin Advisor offers an advanced skin analysis and provides valuable advice for people seeking relief from common skincare issues, putting the cure in Curel.”

Urban Decay ~ Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows

By Miss Style Apothecary · February 26, 2010 · 0 Comments · 1,142 Views

When Disney called to ask if Urban Decay would design a product for the launch of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, they were like, "Um….yes!" The result is this truly amazing (and seriously collectible) Book of Shadows. Tucked inside a hidden drawer are 16 best-selling Eyeshadows, given topsy-turvy names like White Rabbit, Jabberwocky, and Oraculum. Alongside them lie travel sizes of Eyeshadow Primer Potion and two 24/7 Eye Pencils. From smoky neutral eyes to flashes of hallucinogenic green and purple, the looks you can create are as endless as the rabbit hole itself. The top opens to reveal a pop-up scene of Alice in the mushroom forest. Her "drink me" bottle discarded, she staggers past towering mushrooms, only to cross paths with a very peculiar, hookah-smoking caterpillar. A large mirror rests behind the scene, making you feel as if you are transported into the film itself. Anyone who loves Urban Decay, Tim Burton, Disney, or Alice in Wonderland absolutely MUST have this palette. Even the Mad Hatter would say this Book of Shadows delivers it all.

This set contains:
-Underland (Flash) -Alice (Painkiller) -Oraculum (Baked) -Queen (Last Call) -Chessur (Chopper) -White Rabbit (Polyester Bride)
-Wonderland (Maui Wowie) --Curiouser (Grifter) -Muchness (X) -Mushroom (Mushroom) -Midnight Tea Party (Midnight Cowboy Rides Again) -Vorpal (S&M) -Absolem (Homegrown) -Drink Me Eat Me (Sin) -Mad Hatter (Twice Baked) -Jabberwocky (Oil Slick)
-Travel-size 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero and Flipside
-Travel-size Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Weekly Update ~ DermTV.com

By Miss Style Apothecary · February 24, 2010 · 0 Comments · 311 Views

At it again, Dr. Schultz has an amazing tip this week that I had to share with you.  Check it out to learn why changing up your shampoo is beneficial (regardless of what the man in your life says!).

And a quick reminder that DermTV Live with Dr. Schultz airs tonight at 7pm EST, featuring a live Q&A session with the wonderful dermatologist.  Simply visit the site www.dermtv.com/live for a live broadcast.  You can also visit the site now to set a reminder (I know that I had to!).

Tip of the Week -- Preventing Shampoo Fatigue:
Everyone has a favorite shampoo because of the way it leaves their hair feeling, looking, or smelling. But if you use the same shampoo every time, after a while, it just stops working. Somehow, the scalp and hair get "used" to the same shampoo and the scalp starts to itch or flake and the shampoo may leaves hair limp. And this even happens whether you shampoo every day or just once a week. It's a good thing that preventing shampoo fatigue is simple! Just use a different shampoo at least every fourth or fifth hair wash and your favorite shampoo will be as efficacious as you expect it to be!

Weatherproof Your Hair with tips from Kattia Solano from Butterfly Studio Salon - NYC

By Miss Style Apothecary · February 24, 2010 · 0 Comments · 62 Views

TIP 1: WAVY/CURLY HAIR – HOW SHOULD YOU WEAR A HAT?
• Hair around the frame of the face gets the most frizzy, especially for those with wavy and curly hair
• Kattia suggests applying the Rahua Finishing Treatment to damp hair, leaving hair shiny and frizz-free, and then creating a simple braid across the hair line – from left mid-brow to behind the right ear
• This simple technique will allow the hair around the frame of the face to remain groomed and in place, with minimal frizz, under a fashionable hat

TIP 2: STRAIGHT HAIR – HOW SHOULD YOU WEAR A HAT?
• In order to minimize frizz and flyaways, Kattia suggests creating a side ponytail and/or a neat braid
• With the help of an anti-frizz serum, such as the Kerastase OLEO-RELAX Serum, even under a hat, this style will maintain its form
• Kattia also suggests tucking the ponytail under a scarf to keep all hair hidden from the rain and snow

TIP 3: JACKETS WITH HOODS – HOW TO MAKE YOUR HAIR LOOK IT’S BEST
• Hoods typically aren’t as constricting as hats and are sometimes easier to protect hairstyles from inclement weather
• Kattia suggests sectioning hair in four quadrants and creating loose pincurls, secured with large bobbypins and sprayed with a holding/texture spray such as the Shu Uemura Liquid Fabric
• These pincurls will be hidden and protected under the hood of the coat
• Once at your final destination, these four bobbypins can easily be removed to reveal bouncy and voluminous waves
