Review of Salon Capri, Legacy Place - Dedham, MA

Salon Capri 406 Legacy Place, Dedham, MA 02026

Before                                                 After                                                Rear View

Throughout my college years, I have always had long hair that I either straighten or put in a pony tail. I do spend time on my hair, but not a great amount of time.  Immediately after graduating in May, I had a friend of a friend cut about 5 inches off of my hair.   I have been wearing my hair slightly pass my shoulders since then.  When the opportunity to review Salon Capri arose, I was so excited because I knew my shoulder length hair needed some style to it. Ok-to be fair I have to admit that I was a bit nervous walking into this salon. I had researched the salon and I found that  it was a highly rated salon.  I had a preconceived notion that the salon would have beautiful hairdressers and stylists who would look down at my messy hair.  I was very pleasantly surprised to find that although the staff was very vogue, they were all SO friendly and welcoming.

Driving to Legacy Place in Dedham, I immediately noticed how new and inviting Legacy Place is, this is a perfect spot for Salon Capri's newest location. It's hip, trendy and something for everyone.. My appointment was booked with Nick the owner for a cut & blow-dry.. .  As soon as I walked into the salon, the girl at the front asked us if we wanted to see the entire salon.  We walked through the beautiful, stylish and hip waiting area to the area where the work gets done! They do so much more than just hair.. nails, facials, waxing makeup and even have their own in house makeup artist that specializes in Christopher Drummond Beauty Products!  The new Salon Capri, had several sink stations to the left and styling chairs to the right ….and  something that looked like a bar for haircolor and what looked like supplies   We ( Cakedoo1 and I), saw the waxing and facial rooms too.  Shortly after, I  was told to pick a sink, which I did and then a girl washed my hair -   One special treat was the massaging chair ( you know, the ones always in the front of Brookstone).   She massaged and washed my hair which lasted about 2 or 3 minutes, it was a very relaxing experience. She then combed my hair out with a flat brush.  I then sat in Nick’s chair waiting to be cut & styled. Nick  came out  & introduced himself with  a handshake. He combed my hair and asked what style I had in mind.  This is one of the reasons why I enjoyed my experience so much. He obviously is a very accomplished stylist with years of experience and he was asking ME, someone with very little experience with hair, what I thought was going to look good.

Luckily,  I had a rough idea of what hair style  I was looking for, but I had Nick fill in the blurry spots.  I have a very round face and asked him what would look good for my face shape. We decided on a blunt hairstyle with a part slightly on the left and side bands.  He then suggested to have  my hair a bit shorter in the back and then gradually longer towards the front.  At this point, I totally trusted his opinion, but all I could think is please don’t make me look like Posh Spice! I then expressed my concern and he said don’t worry it will be very gradual….and it was.   I also told him that  I wasn’t a fan of my hair when it flipped out ( I’m sure there is a word that is used in the styling world but I wasn’t aware of it).   Nick becomes very focused and entranced in his work and far be it for me to ask any questions, when an artist is at let him work, right? The cut is perfectly precise.

Nick finished with a soothing cream  which made my hair feel soft and feel shinny for days after.  Nick then blow dried my hair and flat ironed it.  He then did a dry cut. I never had a dry cut before so this was an extra special treat.  I could tell that he put a lot of time making sure that each piece of hair was perfect.  I have been to a lot of styling salons before but I have never met a hair dresser that was as meticulous as he is. He made sure that each strain of hair was in line and  that if he missed a piece in the wet cut… he got it now.

Salon Capri was an amazing experience. Nick is so talented yet so humble and welcoming.  I feel very appreciative that I had this opportunity to review this salon.  As I make the transition from lazy college student to a business professional, I am at the point that I need the polished modern look that Nick bestowed upon me..  Thank you Nick  & the Salon Capri team for this amazing experience &  style!
