Dr. Schultz’s Tip of the Week:  Love Thy Skin Care Products

My fifth irrefutable rule of skin care states: Find products you love...so that you'll actually use them!  Considering the unlimited number of skin care product choices available, there's no reason you can't find products that fit your lifestyle and that you also love.  It's precisely for this reason that I recommend, for example, a sunscreen with an SPF of between 15 and 30 instead of a higher one.  A higher SPF, while providing slightly more protection makes the sunscreen much thicker which studies have shown makes people less likely to use them.  I'd rather recommend a product that a patient will love and therefore use than one that's a little more efficacious but won't be applied.  So find products that you actually enjoy using instead of ending up with a medicine cabinet full of hope.
